If predialysis serum potassium level is < 4 mEq/l, the dialysis solution( dialysate)
potassium concentration should be 4 mEq/l or higher.
Add 2 mEq kcl to 1 L Dialysis solution ( 20 mEq kcl to 10 L dialysis solution).
In patients with a predialysis serum potassium level > 5.5 mEq/l, dialysis solution.
potassium concentration of 2 mEq/l is appropriate in stable patient.( No need to add
kcl to dialysis solution).
Dialysis solution potassium concentration should be raised to 2.5 mEq to 3 mEq in
patient at risk for arrhythmia( in hypokalemia).
Whenever serum potassium level is >7 mEq/l, the dialysis solution potassium
concentration should be Zero( Potassium free dialysis solution should be used).
